Welcome Steph and Bo to the FOCS Team!
Please join us in welcoming our Operations Manager and Parent Group Manager
Steph (they/them) | Operations Manager
Steph joined FOCS in September 2021 to support operations and finance. Born and raised in southern California, Steph regained a sense of community in Seattle after moving in 2012 to complete a Master’s degree in Museology (Museum Studies). They are a career nonprofit worker, fourth-generation southern Chinese and Japanese, and proudly queer, nonbinary and trans. Some other roles Steph has held in their lifetime include archaeologist, cultural storyteller, grant writer, newspaper columnist, and group discussion facilitator. Their hobbies include writing, playing ukulele and guitar, and cooking–plus sharing and eating good food (especially in the Chinatown International-District). They also are an avid collector of ceramics, stationery and graphic novels made by people of color locally and internationally.

Proudly raised by their single mom and their popo (maternal grandmother), Steph inherited both women’s fire and stubbornness especially when coming up against oppressive structures and discrimination. They are the most passionate about supporting and uplifting non-traditional families, and all Black, Indigenous and People of Color experiencing multiple intersections of oppression.

Bo (he/him) | Parent Group Manager
Bo, M.Ed joined FOCS in October 2021 as Parent Group Manager. Bo was born in Rome, Italy to Chinese American parents and immigrated to Seattle, WA at the age of 10. Having navigated the intersectionalities of race, culture, and identity Bo gained valuable skill-sets while attending Seattle Central College earning an Associates of Arts degree and transferring to the University of Washington Seattle earning a literature degree with an emphasis on American Ethinic Studies. Bo completed his Masters in Education and Guidance Counseling from City University with a focus on multicultural and multigenerational frameworks which he uses to close equity gaps for families, first generation, low-income and disabled populations of color.

In his spare time Bo enjoys spending time with his twin sons and partner, cooking, practicing martial arts, breakdancing and listening to 90’s hip hop.
